Minister of Human Resource Development, Praksh Javadakar commands IITS and IISER’s to mentor schools close to their campuses. He further justified that this would help students should in not lagging behind in subjects like mathematics and science.
Mr. Javadakar claimed that “maths can be taught can be taught in an entertaining manner. Students to study and understand maths & science not very big equipment, instead simple ideas are required, where primary school teachers play a huge role”.
The idea behind making IITs and IISERs train 10-15 schools close to their campuses is to foster research tendency amongst students from an early age. Also this will allow students to be enriched with the right training science and mathematics. Mr. Javadakar added right pedagogies are required to cultivate the interest of primary school students in these 2 subjects.
What make Javadakar claim a need of IITs and IISERs to mentor schools?
Studies have shown that once students lag behind in maths or science the gap increases and they fall behind further. So it is important how you explain science and maths to students.
Mr. Javadakar said “on the basis of this, I am sure our investment in research will grow and an environment of science, engineering, technologies, mathematics, research and attitude of innovation will initiate in schools. Where we’d be encourage the tendency to explore the solution to the society’s problem.
