GST to be included in School Curriculum from 2020

ICSE  has decided to include the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in Class X Maths syllabus. GST will replace the section on VAT carrying 4 to 6 marks as this tax regime has been discontinued. This change in the syllabus, declared by ICSE, has been widely accepted by teachers and educators. They are assured that the desired change will help students understand the indirect tax structure prevailing in the country. This move by the board acknowledges the importance of practical learning for the students.

CBSE- As far as CBSE is concerned; the board will only include the topics related to GST and demonetization in the existing syllabus of subjects, such as economics, business studies, accountancy, and political science.

Others state boards like Assam Board introduced GST from the Class XII curriculum while UP Board has decided to include GST in Class X syllabus.


How Will This Impact Students?


The impact of this change will prove to be a boon in school education. Making its way in ICSE Class 10 syllabus, it will broaden the scope of learning and understanding and adopt a more pragmatic approach. It will accrue its benefits especially to those students who aspire to pursue or CA in future.
