About UK Conference

Premise

The nature of secondary education is rapidly changing across the world. New curricula and new approaches to teaching and learning; the changing social conditions which children and young people are growing up within; the technical and environmental challenges we all face; all these produce extraordinary pressures on the values, purposes and role of secondary education.

This is as true for schools in urbanized inner cities as it for those in wealthy neighborhoods or those in remote, rural communities.

Introduction

All Our Futures was the first Anglo-Indian conference for Principals and Head teachers of secondary schools in India and the UK. The conference examined the difficult national climates solutions and pressures on secondary education and identified the ways in which secondary schools had identified local solutions to those pressures through for example, extending the nature of the workforce, introducing other specialism to the classroom and extended learning to settings outside of schools.

We aimed to share those solutions with colleagues, who came from vastly differing cultural, social and economic backgrounds had one thing in common: their desires to prepare all their young people to cope with, contribute to and achieve in, all their futures.
