Societies are the mirror images of school based educations. The type of educations imparted in schools will make an individual responsible. The school education has permanent effect on the child‘s morality, honesty, ethics, truthfulness and dedication towards work. The teacher being a role model for the students it is important that the selection be done on the basis of interest in teaching rather than degrees alone.

Dr Vijayaraghavan M Chariar is a faculty member with the Centre for Rural Development and Technology, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.. He acquired his MTech (1993) and PhD (1998) degrees in Experimental Solid State Physics from IIT Delhi. At NISTADS (CSIR), Dr Chariar carried our post-doctoral research on “Traditional Sciences and Technologies of India”. He is involved in designing and delivering courses and workshops incorporating "Wisdom-based Leadership" for professionals and institutions.

About the Paper:

In this paper, a model of Wisdom-based Learning and Leadership is presented. The paper proposes that each individual can uncover and unleash qualities of a Leader. The process of Complete Leadership in all five dimensios of life is based on experiencing the power of the Happy Natural State. This experiential state of being is the source of Clarity in Vision, Velocity in Results, Ease in the Process and Joy of being. This model of Wisdom-based Learning and Leadership is based on three foundational elements of (i) Caring , Sharing and Inspiring (ii) Impersonal Inclusive Vision and (iii) Liberation from self-limiting beliefs.

V P Shrivastava M.Sc., Ph D (Physics) from Banaras Hindu University .Taught Physics at the University of Zambia, University of Jodhpur and Regional Institute of Education, Ajmer. He was a Visiting Scientist at the International Centre of Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy. He has visited Italy, Germany, Zambia, Indonesia, Egypt, and South Africa for various conferences & seminars.

About the Paper:

This paper examines in–depth the inquiry-based approach to science teaching.Uusing results of researches in science education and addresses to issues related to its implementation. Development of Inquiry based material is explained in detail using an example. A model tried out by the author for professional development of teachers is also presented. This approach sets new demands on school leadership. Finally, the paper will also discuss impediments in implementation of this approach.

Meena’s teaching expertise is in European languages and English. She has published a book ‘APL and Bilingual Learners’ and is studying for a MBA in International Leadership and Management in Education.
