Educational management is fast evolving as a discipline of its own in the context of the scale of investment, competition, dynamic socio-economic environment; schools are as complex as any medium scale business enterprise.

School leaders most often find themselves drawn into mundane and routine operations or crisis management with core areas – quality and personalization - losing focus. As a result, strategic issues are shelved due to time and other pressures. The organization structures of schools have essentially remained what they were - Principals, vice-principals, and coordinators. While some excellent teachers have become excellent principals by self–learning, many have struggled. Schools often lose excellent teachers and get a floundering principal.

It is time to professionalize school management; professionalism being defined as practicing that what one is trained for. It is in this background that this program has been designed to prepare 21st century Knowledge Society School Leaders.

IIT Delhi recognizes the need for improved school leadership and together with IYC World, an alumnus organization, is offering this programme as a social responsibility.
